Cinderella is Dead #BookReview

Why is it that every time you love a book so much it is hard to find the words?!! Anyways here I am, this might turn into a Books you will like if you like this one, 15 thoughts while reading and just my general thoughts so bear with me, because there was so much about this book that I loved!

Let me start by my obvious on-brand behavior, I had this book at 32% for the longest time because LIFE! and I finished reading it around 4am which seems to be my usual I need to consume this amazing world-building time of morning ๐Ÿ˜‚

Let’s break this down into parts:

The Cover

The moment I saw this book cover, I had to go read the synopsis and I was just like excuse me? I need it. and yes I do prefer the UK cover, but imma love the hell out of my US copy, yes I said it! because the words that can be found in there are magic.

The Characters

Sophia and Constance, where do I even begin!? I’m in love?? can I end it there? cause like that’s my statement lol.

All joking aside though, their triumph, bravery and love story is phenomenal, like those Sapphic vibes are not playing games, and I am still waiting for someone to look at me like Sophia looked at Constance that night by the fire place.

The other characters are also so well developed, like oof I have to say my surprise, I absolutely loved character was Amina, I didn’t know what to make of her at first but she slowly grew on me. You could call her our Morally grey individual. You just don’t know what you get when it comes to her.

Also just wait until that scene that gave me straight up We Set The Dark On Fire vibes at the pond! Just absolute fire!!๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€ This is not exactly how it goes down but I bet money if we would have been in a fair world it would have ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

The Plot

This book has as many plot twists as your street probably has pot holes! It is mind boggling how good it is! Like every time I thought, Im like yeah… I got this! The book just smacked me in the face and said you silly!

me attempting to guess everything before it happens
me thinking I actually could

The World-Building

It is on brand for me to say that a book felt like I watched a movie, but that is because Diverse reads have been nailing world-building every single time for me lately, and Cinderella is Dead is no exception!

In vivid scenes that i can still replay, I remember these happening:

trust me this one is going to hurt you
me almost being fooled by the beauty of it all at the beginning
I’m still mad that I thought she loved me
that final plot twist though๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

As you can tell I wanted to tell you how amazing it was, without telling you because so many things in this world can be spoilery if shared, that is how interconnected it is. This retelling feels like a new Canon story, like I need to have a retelling of this Cinderella story with Brandy playing Sophia. Cause we know she’s the true Cinderella right?

This story felt like the original Cinderella but complete. It filled in its plotholes, it gave us the details, it took us on a ride through a world we never imagined, we find out the truth and come to know that Cinderella is Dead or is she?

You’ll understand this last one after you finish reading lol

If you got excited reading this review and want to read other books with amazing world-building, plots and/or characters, let me recommend you some right here before you go!
